Today I'm bringing you two books and authors who are perfect for those who love historical novels that are rich with layers and detail. Both of these ladies are uber-talented and you should add their books to your TBR piles.
Tamera Alexander's To Whisper Her Name is a sweeping tale set in antebellum Nashville. A USAToday bestseller, here's more:
Olivia Aberdeen, destitute widow of a man shot as a traitor to the South, is shunned by proper society and gratefully accepts an invitation from "Aunt" Elizabeth Harding, mistress of Belle Meade
Plantation. Expecting to be the Harding's head housekeeper, Olivia is disillusioned when she learns the real reason Elizabeth's husband, Confederate General William Giles Harding, agreed to her coming. Not finding the safe haven she expects, Olivia is caught off guard by her feelings for Ridley Adam Cooper, a Southern man who seems anything but a Southern gentleman.
Branded a traitor by some, Ridley Cooper, a Southern son who chose to fight for the Union, is a man desperate to end the war still raging inside him. Determined to learn "the gift" that Belle Meade's head horse trainer and former slave, Bob Green, possesses, Ridley harbors secrets that threaten both their lives.
No Safe Harbor by Elizabeth Ludwig is a gripping story of discovery and suspense.
Lured by a handful of scribbled words across a faded letter, Cara Hamilton sets off from 1896 Ireland on a quest to find the brother she'd thought dead. Her search lands her in America, amidst a houseful of strangers and one man who claims to be a friend--Rourke Walsh. Despite her brother's warning, Cara decides to trust Rourke and reveals the truth about her purpose in America. But he is not who he claims to be, and as rumors begin to circulate about an underground group of dangerous revolutionaries, Cara's desperation grows. Her questions lead her ever closer to her brother, but they also bring her closer to destruction as Rourke's true intentions come to light.

I think spending more quality time with your kids instead of just quantity.
It's hard to say, plus I'm not a parent, so I don't think any advice from me carries much weight! But I think we all know families who appear to be great and one of the kids just somehow turns out 'bad'. Or at least very different from the brothers and sisters.

A strong faith in God and an even stronger witness. Children of all ages "do as they see"!!
My favorite part of Christmas is spending time with my family. But a close second was the amazingly blessed inspirational musical we had this weekend. Got to be in it with my girls. Special and moving at the same time!
These two books sound very interesting. Thank you for the chance to win.
My favorite part of Christmas is the music that tells of Christ's birth and that He is our savior.

Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year. It's such a blessed time to be with our families and to give and share from the heart. And, we can literally sing and shout about the birth of Jesus, our Savior.
Thank you for your giveaway, Cara. Both books sound fantastic. Merry Christmas to you and yours! :)

My favorite part of Christmas? Advent is a special part of Christmas for us because it was during one of our readings 20 years ago that my son became a Christian. :-)

Hmmm....I would have to say that my favorite part of Christmas is the good feeling in the air. People just seem to be a bit nicer around this time of year. I know it won't last, so I enjoy it while I can...

I love everything about Christmas!
Christmas is my favorite holiday so it's hard to pick one thing. It's Jesus' birthday so that's a good reason! :)
Spending time with family!
I just love Christmas in general! I love buying gifts for others, and seeing their faces when they open them. I love the decorations, and listening to Christmas music, but if I had to pick a favorite it would be being surrounded by family.
My favorite part of Christmas is a tradition we started years ago...quite by accident! We weren't going to be able to go home for Christmas, so my sister sent me a box of presents for my kids. Thinking the gifts inside would be wrapped, I opened the box in front of them. Well, once they saw what was inside, there was no sense keeping the gifts until Christmas. We let them have them, and they ended up enjoying that one gift from that one special person all day. My daughter got a sweater, which she wore as we went Christmas shopping. My son got a movie. Later that night, we all sat down and watched it together. So began a fun Christmas tradition of opening one present a day for the week leading up to Christmas. It prolongs the fun and excitement of gift giving, and eliminates the crazy rush of opening presents and then quickly tossing them aside for the next package. My kids love it, and so do I! :-)
My favorite part of Christmas is spending time with my family and having time off from work to do so!

My favorite part is being with my family.
Not sure which question to answer here, so I will say all families need to treat family members and others with love and respect. And my new fave Christmas tradition is reading Christmas books the month of December!
