Great Suspense from Brandilyn Collins

Last week, I shared some thoughts on a suspense that I read that left me with a heavy and hopeless feeling. Now I want to share about one that I loved.

Exposure by Brandilyn Collins is a wonderful, page-turner. It has all the trademarks of her suspense. Tight plot. Every word pulls its weight. And the multiple plotlines come together with amazing twists at the end.

Kaycee Raye is being stalked. The only problem is that she's known for her fears, so the police are reluctant to believe her when strange, scary things begin happening. While Kaycee is the star, there are multiple plots happening. And Brandilyn is the queen of hooks. She makes it impossible to put the book down, because as soon as she reaches a point of high tension, she turns to another plot.

By the way, my mom's visiting as I write this review and she called this book brilliant. She's absolutely right. If you can handle suspense at all, you have to read this one. It's incredibly well-written, and I'm not kidding when I say there is much of Brandilyn's style that I admire and hope to be able to emulate in my own way someday.

Someday I hope I write with the style and plotting Brandilyn uses so well. If you love suspense, you have to get this book -- but here's your fair warning, make sure you have a full day to read it.

Everybody knows newspaper columnist Kaycee Raye is a little crazy. So why should anybody believe her when she says she's being watched? Kaycee has no proof of her suspicion---evidence mysteriously disappears before the police can investigate! Is she going over the edge? Or is she being pushed? A story of suspense---and desperate faith. 352 pages, softcover from Zondervan.

Cara, I would love reading this book, but you've convinced me that it's super suspenseful and well written. Of course, that means for me to get through it, I'd have to cheat and peak at the end! :) I know, I know, I'm naughty, but for me it's a sign of a great book. I wouldn't read the entire end, just look at a page or two to see who's around still. I know I'm a cheater, but it's really a compliment to the writers...REALLY!

Mimi -
You can NOT cheat on this book - seriously! You have to sit back and enjoy and then bam! Let the ending hit you square upside the head.

This book is amazing, but cheating would ruin it!

Mimi, Janna's right. So--a challenge. Read Exposure WITHOUT looking at the end. Then email me about your experience. I'll send you a Big Honkin' Chickens' Club mouse pad. Check it out in the Zazzle panel here: http://brandilyncollins.com/bhcc.html

HAHAHAHAHA, Oh, this is priceless. I have to be honest with you...this could be an extremely hard challenge! Julie Lessman has already given me the "what-for" when I admited to reading the end of a book that has me so sucked in I couldn't stand it.

I'll take your challenge and I will let you know how it goes! If I can't stand it, I'll let you know where I was out of my mind and had to peek!!

Cara, I usually leave my email, but since I wasn't entering a contest and just leaving a comment, I wasn't worried about it. Thanks for finding me and letting me know about Brandilyn's comment!

Jana~I'll give it my best. No promises.

Ok, so I just read the first chapter at Barnes & Noble to see if they carried it. I saw it there but don't know if it's in the store.

I don't know that I'm going to make it. That first chapter was intense!! I kept thinking "What's the twist, what's the twist?" AUGHHHH! I don't think I'll last.

Brandilyn, I'm the wrong person to talk to about discipline!! I have a long way to go there.

The 1st review on B&N made me want to turn to the last chapter...LAST CHAPTER... before I even read the first chapter!

It'll be a bit before I get the book. I don't head to St. Cloud very often ( was there a couple months ago) so this time between now and when I go will give me time to separate myself from the story. :)

I'd get it from the library, but our puppy ate one of my son's library books and now there's a pretty little (big) fine I get to pay before I can check out anymore items. I had to put all my stuff on hold for a few weeks! :)

This is fun!!!

Blessings,
Mimi
