Review & Giveaway: Sweet Waters

Julie Carobini is a delightful writer. I thoroughly enjoyed her first two books: Chocolate Beach and Truffles by the Sea. That's why I was so delighted to get her latest book, Sweet Waters.

This book is a story of homecoming. Tara Sweet has always been sensible and lead a frankly boring life. She had the same boyfriend for YEARS, worked at a mind-numbing collection job, and mothered her sisters because it was what she thought her job was. Then her mother suddenly marries someone and takes off for an extended honeymoon in Europe.

With that change, Tara decides to change everything by returning to her roots across the country in California. Things don't go as planned -- at all. First, she meets the hunky firefighter who takes her breath away, but battles shadows. Second, she runs into rumors about her father that she can't imagine are true. Third, she has to balance out her relationship with her sisters. And I've hardly scratched the surface.

What happens when the fairy tale turns out to be a soap opera? A fun twist in this book is that Tara takes life advice from a soap opera star. You can imagine for yourself how that works.

The publisher has labeled the book a romance, but it's much deeper than a straight romance. It's the perfect read when you want to escape and explore how the truth sets us free.

For an opportunity for a copy of this book, leave a comment with advice you would give a soap opera star.

Hello Cara,

This book sounds interesting. If I could say anything to a soap opera star, it would probably be to say I stopped watching soap's to read and I'm glad to have made that step. Please count me in for the contest. Have a great day.

I would have to say my advice would be to portray and honest view of being a Christian in a tv genre that is completely lacking in this area. I haven't watched soaps for years, thankfully, because they were very addicting!

Blessings,

I am not a soap opera fan, as every one seems to want a different person each week (I used to watch them). My advice would be to make the story line clean, making sure those who go astray have an opportunity to hear the Truth and change their ways.
Please count me in on the contest. Thank you.

My advice would be to get out. You can do better than soaps. Never watched one in my life.

My advice to a soap opera star would be to find another line of work. Someone with talent should not be stuck doing that. This book sounds really good. Thanks for the chance to win a copy.

This sounds like an awesome read.
I think I'd tell a soap opera star to get some acting lessons. After they've improved, then they should try to find more honorable gigs. I'm not sure how many Christians there are in Hollywood/acting arenas, but Christians definitely need to stand up for good, Christ-honoring art that lifts people up instead of filling their minds with junk.
That's my thoughts anyway!!
have a great day.

My advice would be that they use their "star" status to champion a cause and do some good where it is most needed.

I enjoy Julie's books and would love to win a copy of Sweet Waters. Thank you for the giveaway.

Advice to a soap star.......pray hard to be an approachable example of Christ in your field. If God put you there, do what you can to make Him known there.

I have enjoyed the two books that I have read of Julie's and would love to read this one as well. My advice to be would be to find a different field of work. Soaps are so addicting and not teaching people about G-d and how to live for Him.

Blessings,
Jo

Hi, I used to watch one soap opera and I stopped that years ago!
The people's lives in Soap Opera's did make me feel better about mine.
That is what I would tell a soap opera star. Many thanks, Cindi

Please enter me in the drawing for this book. I would like to see soap operas have some redeeming value-so many people (women) watch them and become addicted, it would be nice if they could give hope and vision and destiny instead of each character being so self-absorbed.
