Today, in Indiana, the heat is blistering with enough humidity to let me know I’m alive. It’s the kind of day you can do one of two things. Curl up by the pool with a book or inside with the A/C cranked up…again with a book and glass of sweet tea.
Really, I’m okay with that.
Why? Because there are so many GREAT books and I'm giving one away.
This week I read J. Mark Bertrand’s phenomenal Pattern of Wounds, a great cop investigative novel that kept me guessing, and Davis Bunn’s latest release Lion of Babylon. Wow! Watch out Tom Clancy, because here’s an author who can write military thrillers as well as you, with the added element of heart. Then there’s Ronie Kendig’s amazing Wolfsbane. I love her high-octane military series layered with rich romance. Wow!

You don’t like police procedurals or military? No problem. How about The Amish Nanny from the amazing combo Leslie Gould and Mindy Starns Clark? This novel takes you on a European vacation to Switzerland while providing a twist on Amish novels. Or Elizabeth Camden’s debut novel The Lady of Bolton Hill, set in Baltimore during the 1870s. Oh, and Love Letters in the Sand by my friend Diann Hunt, a fun romance set during the 50s. The Lightkeeper’s Ball by Colleen Coble is a great romantic mystery set during the late 1800s in northern California.
For those who like contemporary, you’ve got to try She Makes It Look Easy by my good friend Marybeth Whalen. The characters will have you reevaluating how we put people on a pedestal. Squared Away is a fun mystery I have out with Guidepost in their Patchwork Mysteries series. You can join Sarah Hart as she solves another mystery—this one counterfeiting—as she helps friends and family in western Massachusetts.
This is what I love about Christian fiction. There truly is something for every taste. Like contemporary romance? No problem. Prefer your novels with a historical twist? Again, no problem. Looking for something for a teen? Check out books by Melody Carlson, Jenny B. Jones, and Robin Jones Gunn just to name a very few of the excellent authors out there.
I remember hounding my local Christian bookstore. The manager pulled catalogs out when he saw me since he knew my question before I opened my mouth. When’s the next book by so-and-so releasing? Now, I can’t keep up with the great titles. As a reader, that delights me. Especially during the lazy days of summer.
Now, let’s see. What shall I read next? Beside Still Waters by Tricia Goyer or Fairer than Morning by Rosslyn Elliot. Choices, choices! Leave a comment, and you could get a copy of Beside Still Waters
